A Wonderful Carp Fishing Week!

This is a fantastic location. The Gardener’s cottage was perfect for just the two of us. Cottage was clean and well equipped and ideal for anybody looking for a relaxing carp fishing holiday in France. We had a fantastic meal cooked by Jude on the evening of our arrival with a lovely wine recommended by Julian. Was delighted to have the lake all to ourselves and, using the Moulin bait recommended and supplied, we had a very productive week. Market town Loches is only a 5 minute drive for local produce, particularly from the many patisseries....went home quite a few pounds heavier. Jude and Julian are very nice hosts, leaving you to your own agenda but always available if needed. We really enjoyed it and definitely hope to return.

Highly Recommended

What a gem this place is if you want to get chilled out with fantastic carp fishing, a relaxing pool and great food . Julian and Jude are lovely hosts and have got the balance just right, brilliant to deal with, there if you need help and local knowledge, otherwise let you get on with it. We have stayed before in the Gardener’s cottage, and had a great time, but for this return trip we took the Bread Oven over August Bank Holiday week. This is perfect accommodation for two people, cosy, romantic and really works well. Jude's meals are amazing, can be booked while you are there, and Julian gives the story behind your wine choice which all makes for a great way to spend an evening. The carp fishing is amazing and we both smashed our PB's using the in-house boilies, catching a series of 30lb+ carp, all in beautiful condition. Can't recommend this place enough. We are already planning another trip, this time for a fortnight in the Fisherman’s cottage with our family in July next year.

Carp Fishing was the Holiday Highlight

This was our first time in the Loire at Moulin de Boutineau; Jude and Julian were great hosts and we felt very much at home during our stay in the relaxed Gardner’s cottage set in lovely grounds. The Moulin Lake and surrounds were fantastic, well looked after and large enough to go exploring. The carp fishing was the highlight of our trip with 22 carp caught between the two fishermen in the family up to 34lbs. Overall we had a great time; great area and local towns, lots to sight-see and the local zoo is well worth a visit. Overall we had a great holiday and this will be somewhere we will definitely return to.

Nowhere better for a carp fishing holiday

There really is just nowhere better for a carp fishing holiday in our opinion. We’ve now visited the Moulin for five years in a row, both as a couple and with family, and my husband Ross is still itching to go back again…hopefully next year. The cottages are simply gorgeous – we’ve now stayed in all three! Jude’s cooking is the best and well worth treating yourselves. It’s an English family running a perfect carp fishing holiday retreat in France…but it’s not only for families in school hols time…it’s for anglers and their friends at other times too. Just a great spot for enjoying a top holiday and top carp fishing too. We Love, Love, Love this place!

There’s magic in the water here…

What can we say – Best Fortnight’s Holiday Ever!! What a lovely place, area, and people! We couldn’t be happier! We went to get away from the city hustle and bustle and to do some carp fishing on the Moulin Lake after it was recommended by friends who had stayed before and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The Moulin Lake itself was wonderful and all the carp we caught were just beautiful. The Bread Oven was lovely and quaint, clean and well-kept with everything we needed. Julian and Jude the owners were also so friendly and helpful, so even though we had never been before, it felt like home. I will struggle to find food as good as the meal Jude cooked for us...we are still dreaming of the Peach Meringue and the Duck in cherry jus. There is also so much to do within 30 mins of the property, and shops are right around the corner, so you don't have far to go to get essentials. The market in Loches was awesome, and cannot say enough about the cheeses and other food there. In short, you can't go wrong spending your carp fishing holiday here, it was well worth every penny! We are already planning our next trip, sadly it won't come soon enough....See you soon Julian and Jude!

A fantastic perfect week!

Fantastic property, fantastic lake, plus a superb location in the beautiful Loire Valley region of France. The weather was beautiful too, the carp fishing was great and the hosts, Julian and Jude, made our week-long stay in the Fisherman’s cottage unforgettable. The homemade food served up by Jude was of a quality restaurant standard and nothing was too much effort to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. The fishing produced a number of 30lbs plus carp from a mature lake with great features. Julian supplies bait and tackle if needed which is very handy. The local town of Loches is a 20 minute walk (or 5 mins drive) away and has all you require plus more. Restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shopping. Cannot fault this as a carp fishing holiday; would definitely recommend.

Fabulous

Visited in 2012 for a short carp fishing holiday and loved it so much we returned this year in the Fisherman’s cottage with the family, and what a perfect holiday we had! Carp fishing by the Moulin Lake was great and David landing his PB carp during the week made it all particularly special, as was relaxing by the pool or strolling to nearby Loches, to buy wonderful food and wine for BBQ's in a lovely historical market town. Jude also provided us with a delicious evening meal sitting outside in the evening warmth. A beautiful part of France with very considerate, pleasant, friendly hosts...would definitely recommend.

Great Carp Fishing, Awesome Holiday!

Quite simply, one of the best holidays we have ever had. Julian and Jude are great hosts and looked after us brilliantly. The carp fishing on the Moulin Lake was great and not only did I catch regularly, with a purple run of three upper 30’s, but during the same sequence I also set a new Lake Record with a 43.8lbs mirror. With the mix of the lake and the superb pool there's something here to suit everyone. The Fisherman’s cottage was perfect for the 5 of us, clean and well equipped. We had a few of Jude's fabulous meals during the 2 weeks as well, and would thoroughly recommend them. All in all we had a fantastic time and will definitely return.

Out of this world!

I don't really know what to say about this place to do it the justice it deserves, but here goes. We booked all three cottages for a week. From the moment we arrived we were blown away by the beauty of the place - we all just looked at each other and agreed we had made the right decision; the flowers were in full bloom, sun was shining… absolutely perfect! We were then greeted by the owners Julian & Jude who we all liked, really nice, helpful people and by the end of the trip we had enjoyed a glass (or 6!) of wine with them. We were then shown around each of the three cottages which have all been renovated to a high standard, very clean and comfy. Once we had sorted out who was staying where, for me it was straight to the Moulin Lake - only about 35 yards - where again, I was blown away by the beauty of the place. The lake is perfect, so peaceful , with some cracking carp. I enjoyed a really good week catching fish of 30lbs plus, as well as a special grass carp nobody had caught in ages. However, the fish won't just jump on the hook so a certain amount of thought is needed, making it all the more rewarding! After sitting around the lake, we then chilled out around the amazing big pool and met up in the courtyard to share lunch in the sun. To round off the already fantastic week, we had a meal cooked for us all by Jude on the last night followed by 5 or 6 bottles of wine! What a place and what lovely people! We are going to go back for sure!
